How do your cards work?Updated a year ago
Our cards work one of two ways, via NFC, or QR technology.
NFC
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a wireless communication technology that enables devices in close proximity to exchange information. NFC relies on electromagnetic radio fields to facilitate communication between two devices, typically a mobile phone and an NFC-enabled tag, card, or another device.
When an NFC-enabled device, such as a smartphone, is held close to an NFC-enabled tag, the two devices form a magnetic field. This field generates a small electric current that enables the devices to communicate and exchange information. The tag can store and transfer data, such as a website URL, payment information, or contact details.
QR
In simple terms, a QR (Quick Response) code is a type of barcode that can be read by a smartphone or QR code reader. The code is made up of black and white squares arranged in a square pattern.
When a smartphone or QR code reader scans the code, it takes a picture of it and uses software to interpret the pattern of squares. The software then translates the pattern into information, such as a website URL (your Tapt profile), a product code, or contact information.
Both the QR code and NFC capabilities of your card are linked to your unique profile.
